Volleyball: Hays vs. Lehman

Science Hall students give five flocks

In true testimony to the Christmas spirit, fourth grade Science Hall Elementary students in Leroy Barriga’s class decided that instead of receiving gifts from their teacher, they’d opt to donate the cost of five flocks of chicks to a needy family or community in a third world country through Heifer International. The charity works to help struggling people around the world become more self-reliant for food and income. Teacher Barriga says, “I’m proud of them!”

Academy students give during holidays

Academy High School students engaged with the holiday season through a pair of projects, starting by holding penny wars and bake sales to fund two families in the Angel Tree program. That group provides for children of incarcerated parents, bringing them a gift and the knowledge that he or she hasn’t been forgotten. Additionally, Academy students helped with the Hays County Sheriff’s Department Brown Santa program by sorting food and toys for the charity.
