Odds & Ends

Well it looks like it’s time to get the boxes of Christmas tree ornaments down, look for a tree (unless you have an artificial one) and go shopping for gifts. Maybe you did that on “black Friday” at 4 a.m. This cool weather is real nice to bake Christmas cookies.

Some of us are still serving turkey sandwiches from the bountiful Thanksgiving meals. I hope everybody took a few minutes to reflect on the many things in our lives we can and should be thankful for. There are so many who would be just glad to have a warm coat, a warm place to stay and a meal or two. St. John Lutheran Church collects non-perishable food the year round to take to the Caldwell and Hays County food banks. Cash money is also needed to buy fresh vegetables and meat. A good place to share with those who have so little.
St. John Lutheran Church of Uhland’s Women’s Guild will have their annual Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 4th at the home of Sandra and Steve Jones. Members and guests are invited. Bring a covered dish for the noon meal and non-perishable food for the food banks. Instead of exchanging gifts, the ladies decided to share their bounty with others. Kelly Jones will co-host the event with her mother.
