Danny “Boy” Bazemore, 57, of Manchaca passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010. He was born in Austin on May 29, 1953 to Alice Virginia (Shorty) and Richard Bazemore (Pug). Danny is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Rogers and daughter, Cristy Apple. Brother Davey Bazemore, loving wife of 35 years, Carol Bazemore; his daughters and sons-in-law, Emery and Veronica Hamilton; David and Angel Schobey and four grandchildren, Kayla and Woodie Hall, Thomas Schobey and Jourdan Apple, survive him.
You could say that Danny was born into his trade since you can’t throw a stick in the Bazemore family without hitting a plumber. He worked in the Austin metro area with his brother, Davey and his nephew, Chris Bazemore and, in Mason, Texas with his uncle, Jimmy Harris. Any off time was spent fishing or hunting with family and friends. Danny was a strong man with a physical presence that demanded respect but it never took long for that large soft heart of his to show through and give him away. He was a jester; teasing and taunting those he spent time with but never without a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin inviting you to jest back. He was not a man of emotional words but one who believed actions said all that was necessary and those he loved were never in doubt of how he felt about them.
Danny married Carol on Dec. 27, 1975 with her three girls, ages five, three and 16 months at the ceremony. For 35 years his love and devotion to Carol and his girls was evident in everything Danny did. He never left the house without a kiss. He would threaten to, but just stand outside the door until Carol came looking for him. Their marriage set the example for the long term, happy marriages their daughters enjoy today. He was a wonderful father raising the girls to be ladies but strong enough to beat the boys at any given opportunity. Danny was protective and a feared disciplinarian, although most often the parent to let them get away with misbehavior. Punishment was often paying for the broken item and pricing was pennies on the dollar. The girls were raised to be strong, independent, self-sufficient women and bragging about them was one of Danny’s favorite activities. A good ol’ boy, a friend, a flirt and one of the most wonderful men God created sum up Danny’s character. He was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by so many.
Funeral service was held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Weed-Corley Fish Chapel in Austin.
