A fair day in Kyle

Naoma Black Glosson, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on December 8, 2010. Naoma was born on the family farm in Driftwood on November 16, 1914, one of six children born to Minnie Howard and Garrett Black. She spent her life in and around Driftwood and Dripping Springs after meeting and marrying the love of her life, Eldridge Bell (Pete) Glosson. They met during an annual Reunion held at Camp Ben McCulloch, making it one of their very special places.

They built their home in Dripping Springs in 1945 and resided there until their deaths. Naoma loved attending Sunday school and church, friendship club, the church circle meeting, senior citizens and UDC. She had a deep faith in God and was a strong believer in prayer. She also believed in angels, saying they walked among us; and she had her own group of “angel friends” as she called them. She loved to play canasta and bunco, even after losing her sight to macular degeneration. Naoma had a green thumb and loved to putter in her front yard.

She loved people and loved her family and was a friend to many. Her favorite quote was “Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.” That she truly was. Naoma was predeceased by her husband, Pete, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Minnie Lou Needham and husband Enoch “Buz”, Merlene Myers and husband Marvin, and Patricia Harber; six grandchildren, Sherry Traynor and husband Jim, Enoch N. “Bubba” Needham, Erin Needham and wife Stephanie, Patti Doner and husband John, Michael Myers and wife Karysa, Mark Myers and wife Heather; eight great-grandchildren, sister-in- law Thelma Moore; brother-in-law Richard Conn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 12 at Dripping Springs United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Driftwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may honor her memory by making a donation to Camp Ben McCulloch, P.O. Box 23, Driftwood, Texas 78619 or the Dripping Springs United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 99, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
