DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs Tigers varsity football team racked up 265 rushing yards with six touchdowns, and the Tiger’s quarterback Maddox Maher passed for 196 yards and a touchdown, for a 62-13 win on the road against the Johnson High School Jaguars last Friday night.

Jack Tyndall put the Tigers on the board with a 9-yard pass reception before defensive lineman Elijah Gonzales came in on offense and stunned the Jags with a 1-yard run for a touchdown in the first quarter.

“It’s awesome to play both sides of the ball and help our team get a big win like this,” Gonzales said after the game.

Jack Tyndall would score on a 57-yard run and 4-yard run. The Jags were forced to punt on a fourth and seventeen after Gonzales sacked quarterback Carson McMullin.

“I think they had third down and short,” Gonzales said about the play. “I just came off my block and when he rolled-out, I got him.” The Tigers were left with good field position and settled with a 30-yard field goal by Landon Requard.

The Jags scored their lone touchdown before the half ended, but left 11 seconds on the clock, when they kicked off to Tiger Kyle Koch, who returned the ball 80 yards for a touchdown for a 38-13 Tiger lead at halftime.

Jack Tyndall opened the second half with a 21-yard touchdown run and Maher followed his offensive line on a 1-yard touchdown run. Sophomore Mateo Perez relieved Maher at quarterback and was three for five with 19 yards. Nick Tyndall scored on a 22-yard touchdown run and Ian French’s PAT was good to end the third quarter 59-13. French booted a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the 62-13 win.

The Tigers 5-1(3-0) host Akins 0-7(0-4) on Homecoming night at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6.
