DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Jack Tyndall show started after Dripping Springs’ defense forced Lake Travis (6-2 overall; 4-2 district) to punt on their opening drive. The Tigers’ junior put on a “what it takes to be a running back in Class 6A” clinic last Friday night at Tiger Stadium. Tyndall carried the ball 38 times for 216 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Dripping Springs (6-2 overall; 5-1 district) scored in each quarter for a 24-6 win over the Lake Travis Cavaliers.

Tyndall’s 27-yard run in the first quarter helped set up a 1-yard run by Tigers’ quarterback Maddox Maher for a 7-0 lead. A 57-yard touchdown run by Tyndall gave the Tigers a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.

“Thanks to our offensive line. They were fast and physical,” Tyndall said about his performance after the game, “and opened up holes for me.” In the third quarter, offsetting penalties negated a turnover on a Lake Travis interception. Maher then completed a couple of long passes to Kyle Koch and Tristan Felder and the Tigers offensive line pushed the quarterback over the goal line for a 21-0 lead on a 1-yard run.

Dripping Springs kicker Landon Requard, who was good on all PATs, made it 24-0 when he kicked a 34-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. The Tigers held the Cavs scoreless until backup quarterback Chaston Ditta, who came in for injured starter Kadyn Leon in the third quarter, connected on a 42-yard pass to Dylan Cullers, and the two- point conversion failed.

The Tigers defense held the Cavs to 35 yards and only one first down in the first half. Defensively, Luca Picucci led with five tackles and a pair of sacks, Theo Howard had four tackles and Gabriel Quintana had three. Lake Travis had 189 total yards to Dripping Springs' 374. Maher completed seven of 16 passes for 98 yards. Koch led receivers with five receptions for 70 yards.

The Cavs and Tigers hadn’t met in a decade until a UIL realignment in 2022 paired the two up in District 26-6A. The Tigers shocked the Cavs at home last year with a 38-31 win. The Tigers travel to take on Del Valle 1-7 (1-5) at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27.
