DRIPPING SPRINGS — Pumping gasoline into a vehicle is becoming more expensive by the day.

To help offset surging fuel prices, Dripping Springs ISD (DSISD) is entering into an interlocal agreement with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Energy Cooperative.

As of April 27, the national average gas price is $4.134 and the state’s is $3.775, according to data provided by the American Automobile Association (AAA). For Hays County, that is only a few cents cheaper at $3.739. But, that number can change at any time.

Unanimously approved by the DSISD Board on April 25, the agreement will provide the district additional options when it comes to purchasing fuel and other energy. Options include accessing a competitive group rate by purchasing fuel with neighboring school districts and getting fuel at a fixed rate.

It’s free to join the co-op and there is no obligation to purchase fuel or energy after joining the agreement.
