DRIPPING SPRINGS – Infrastructure. The word usually brings to mind things made of metal and concrete – highways, bridges, dams, pipelines and utilities – the manmade structures and facilities of the modern world that provide us with transportation, energy, communication, flood control and water.

DRIPPING SPRINGS — The city of Dripping Springs will have a rare experience with two eclipses over the next nine months: an annular solar eclipse on Oct. 14 of this year and a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. To help residents, businesses and visitors prepare, the city has launched a new eclipse website.

Staff Report AUSTIN — There is now another grocery store option for Hays County residents after the Nutty Brown H-E-B opened its doors in west Austin on Wednesday, July 5.

— Several area students received high honors from their respective universities.

— As an invitation for residents to take control of their health, the Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) is hosting the Summer Health Fair in Dripping Springs this weekend.

DRIFTWOOD — The county garnered community feedback on improvements to Darden Hill Road last week.

HAYS COUNTY — North Hays County Emergency Services District 1 (ESD1) is seeking the voters’ approval of Proposition A — a measure that, if approved, would move the tax cap for ESD1 from the current rate of $0.03/$100 of assessed home value to $0.10/$100 assessed value — the maximum allowed by the state of Texas.

— Early voting for the May 6 election wrapped up on Tuesday, May 2.

HAYS COUNTY — To ensure that all voices are heard when decisions are made, some members of the San Marcos Hays County EMS (SMHCEMS) have been working to garner support for forming a union called the Hays County EMS Association.
