BUDA — Each December, Buda residents of all ages hop off of the school bus shuttle to be greeted by Christmas joy — the Buda Trail of Lights.

On Friday, Nov. 3, the Lehman High School Lobos and Hays High School Hawks faced off in the annual Hays County rivalry game.

Staff Report HAYS COUNTY — A juvenile suspect was arrested in the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 17, and charged with false alarm, a state jail felony — because the suspect is a juvenile, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office will not be identifying the individual who was taken into custody.

“A lot of people speak and want to do things, but then there are a lot of people who do things,” said former senator Gonzalo Barrientos. “She did things.”

— Noah Saul, 15, is an upcoming sophomore at Hays High School; however, instead of spending his summer hanging out with friends or playing video games, he created a sports shed and an activity/art walk for students at Kyle Elementary School.

HAYS COUNTY — Hays CISD is adding more school resource officers (SRO) to the district.

— On May 1, several students in the Hays CISD fine arts programs were recognized in the company of friends and family at the Performing Arts Center for their commitment to continue their education in the arts at the collegiate level.

— Six graduating seniors were named winners of the Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) essay competition.

— The safety and security of students has been a continuous topic of discussion for school districts across Texas, including Hays CISD.
