KYLE — The annual back-to-school haircut event hosted by local barber Tony Arredondo was back in full swing, and under a new name, this past weekend on Aug. 11.
In an effort to continue aiding the community to the best of their abilities, the Kyle Fire Department and Kyle, Buda Kiwanis Club, along with the nonprofit Unforgettable Families and Friends, Hays County ESD #5, the Kyle Area Senior Zone, Buda Police Department, Kyle Police Department and more, are holding their annual school supply drive through the summer months.
Staff Report BUDA — Imagine having to go without a coat, shoes or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country and here in Hays County and Central Texas, this can be a harsh reality.
— In 2022, approximately 12% of Hays County residents were living in poverty, according to census.gov. But one local nonprofit is working to inspire hope by providing resources, education and economic opportunities for underserved children and families.
