Weldon Moody was born December 2, 1923 in Morgan Mills, Texas to Byrn and Millie Davis Moody. He went to school in Bluff Dale and Stephenville High School. He spent almost four years in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 with eight trips across the Atlantic Ocean and one across the Pacific. He spent two semesters at John Tarleton Junior College and received his B.S. degree from Howard Payne University. He received his masters degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He played basketball one year at Tarleton and three at Howard Payne.
Weldon coached in Kyle ISD, Granbury ISD, Polytechnic High School and Western Hills High School with Ft. Worth ISD. From 1972-1987 he served as vice principal and principal of Granbury High School as well as principal of Acton Elementary. After the 1987 school term he retired with 45 years of dedicated service to Education and Sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Curtis Moody and wife Clyde, brother J T Moody and wife Patsy. Weldon Moody is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Winta Beth Nix Moody; sister, Dorothy Moody-Steele of Benbrook; brother, Allen Moody and wife Betty of Bedford; brother, Bob Moody of Arkansas; and his one son, Rue Allen Moody and wife Rene of Highland Village; three grandchildren, Ryan Moody of The Colony, Jennifer Shrum of Naperville, Ill., and Timmy Spruill and wife Jessica of Buda; one great-grandson, Zane Spruill of Buda.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Acton Baptist Church with burial following at Tolar Cemetery in Tolar, Texas. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
