Junior quarterback Cody Stoever was responsible for six touchdowns and Kyan McAtee ran the Texan’s sideline 71 yards after intercepting a pass from Fredericksburg quarterback Brooks Immel; Dail Hernandez was six for seven in PATs with one blocked. Wimberley held a 42-3 lead at halftime, while Fredericksburg’s lone touchdown was on a 43-yard pass play early in the fourth quarter.

Stoever completed 15 of 19 passes with five of those for touchdowns. Noah Birdsong led receivers with six catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns followed by Nolan Waida with five receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Parker Doss had two receptions, one of those for a touchdown, and totaled 84 yards; and Mark DiCuffa had a 7-yard reception.

The Texans’ offensive line had no problems protecting Stoever in the pocket — with 337 yards passing — or creating running room for 122 yards rushing.

“I don’t prepare myself thinking how good or bad a team we’re playing may be,” said Caden Romo after the win. “I just want to play better every game to help our team get back to state.”

Colton Schmidt had 14 carries for 54 yards and Stoever racked up 53 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Braden Cayce added 15 yards rushing. The Texans defense held the Billies to 54 rushing yards and Billies quarterback Immel totaled 180 yards passing. It was midway through the fourth quarter before the Texans’ Wynston Burttschell was forced to punt.

The Texans (4-0) head coach Doug Warren reminded his team that the next game is homecoming against a very good Lampasas team (4-0) and advised them, “You can’t get caught up in everything, it’s your job to be the best football team you can be on Friday night and play the best football game you can play.”

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22 for the Texans’ home game against Lampasas. The Following homecoming, the Texans will have a bye week before traveling to Jarrell to open district play at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 6.
