WIMBERLEY —The Wimberley High School Texans remain undefeated in district play after securing a 48-20 win over the Navarro High School Panthers at an away game on Friday, Oct. 20.
The Texans started quick and scored 27 points in the first half, while the Panthers scored their first touchdown in the second quarter.
At the end of game, the Texans had 49 carries for 242 yards and six touchdowns. The Texans rushing yards were distributed to several players who contributed to a great offensive effort. The following players contributed to the win:
• Quarterback Cody Stoever (No. 2): 22 carries for 117 yards, five touchdowns and he was 13 of 19 attempts for 155 passing yards
• Running back Chase Carson (No. 5): 13 carries for 61 yards
• Owen O'Neal (No. 7): Nine carries for 40 yards and one touchdown
• Running back Colton Schmidt (No. 34) four carries for 29 yards
The top three Texan receivers were wide receiver Nolan Waida (No. 11) with five receptions for 68 yards; Noah Birdsong (No. 9) with three receptions for 31 yards; and Carson with one reception for 19 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Troy Heugly had one quarterback sack, Zach Patek (No. 15) had one fumble recovery; and Drew Brasher (No. 51) had two fumble recoveries.
On special teams, Dail Hernandez (No. 29) was perfect on the night with six for six PATs and two for two field goals (35 yards, 35 yards).
The Texans are currently 8-0 and their next home game will be at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 against Lago Vista High School.
