Wimberley Texans win 70-6
WIMBERLEY — The Wimberley Texans Football team remained undefeated after traveling last Friday to take on Austin Achieve in the final game of the regular season.
Wimberley put 42 points on the board in the first quarter. Texan quarterback Cody Stoever completed 12 of 13 passes for 213 yards with five touchdowns. Caleb McCreless and Kyan McAtee also got a chance at quarterback and McCreless was two of two for 76 yards and a touchdown, while McAtee was two of two for 30 yards.
The Texan quarterbacks connected with eleven different receivers completing 16 of 17 passes totaling 316 yards and six touchdowns. Dade Gusoskey led with 58 yards receiving. Colton Schmidt led the offense in rushing with six carries for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Austin Achieve scored its lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Nolan Waida and Danny Effiom each had interceptions. Kicker Dail Hernandez was 10 for 10 on PATs.
The Texans, 4A Division II finalist last year, will face Pearsall in a Bi-district playoff game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 at San Antonio Alamo Heights Harry B. Orem Stadium.
Volleyball playoffs
At press time on Tuesday, Nov. 7, Dripping Springs (46-6) will play district rival Westlake (36-11). A win will have the Lady Tigers playing O’Connor or Brennan in the 6A Regional Semifinals at Alamo Convocation Center in San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 10.
Wimberley volleyball (34-7) will face off against playoff rival Bellville (38-8). A win will have the Lady Texans facing Tuloso-Midway or Floresville in the 4A Regional Semifinals at Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 10. Follow the teams at uiltexas.org.
