— Ascension Seton Hays is now under new leadership.

— Noah Saul, 15, is an upcoming sophomore at Hays High School; however, instead of spending his summer hanging out with friends or playing video games, he created a sports shed and an activity/art walk for students at Kyle Elementary School.

— The Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BSEACD) anticipates it will need to change from a Stage III to Stage IV drought status as there has been a downward trajectory in the flow of Barton Springs since 2022.

HAYS COUNTY — The Hays County Commissioners Court received a status update on staffing, procedural processes and future plans for the Hays County Jail population from the newly appointed Director of Court and Pretrial Services Randy Focken at its July 25 meeting.

— In order to have up-to-date materials for students, Hays CISD is purchasing new textbooks for some Advanced Placement classes.

HAYS COUNTY — The Hays CISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the purchase of additional buses last week.

KYLE — Seven-year-old Azariah Silguero is headed to the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics with the support of his family and the community.

KYLE — At its budget workshop on Saturday, July 29, Kyle City Council heard updates to the ongoing proposal for FY 2023-24. The meeting was one of many to be held before adopting the budget in October.
