KYLE — Families are left frustrated and utterly heartbroken after First Baptist Church in Kyle announced the closure of its Mother’s Day Out Program (MDO) in early May.

DRIPPING SPRINGS — Following the retirement of Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau (DSVB) President and CEO Pam Owens earlier this year, the Dripping Springs City Council approved an agreement on June 6 for the transfer of operations of DSVB to the city.

— Following the postponement of any action on the item during the last meeting, the Hays County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a development agreement on June 6 for Mission Oaks Condominiums between the county, Davy Crockett Estates, LLC and Lang Family Ranches L.P.

— Texas only has 25 affordable and available rental homes for every 100 extremely low-income renter households, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition. There are 904,814 extremely low-income renter households in the state.

— One of three lifelong care centers resides in close proximity to Hays County and has been changing the lives of adults with disabilities. For the past 70 years, Marbridge has been providing the opportunity for disabled adults to be an individual who has more to life than their disability.

HAYS COUNTY — Various county and law enforcement officials are currently investigating the Hays County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office (HCTACO) after a former employee was arrested for tampering with governmental records, which is a state jail felony.

— The Hays County EMS Association has been declared the official employee representative of San Marcos Hays County EMS (SMHCEMS) after receiving 68% of the votes in a mail-in ballot election.

— On June 6, Kyle City Council voted to approve a two-year agreement with Flock Group Inc. to install an automated license plate reading system, which was previously presented by Kyle Police Department (KPD) Chief Jeff Barnett at its April 18 meeting.

— As the county grows, Austinbased company MileStone Community Builders has approached multiple government entities with proposals for subdivisions including Hays Commons, located at FM 1626 and Carpenter Lane in Manchaca.

— The Buda Fire Department (BFD) has been providing service to its residents for almost 70 years and has continued to grow alongside the city.
