BUDA — In the fall of 2022, teachers and students filled the halls of Doral Academy, a brand new charter school that opened in Buda. After one full school year, former teachers and staff members continue to raise the alarm, alleging questionable policies and retaliation.

BUDA — A trip into the connecting Whispering Hollow and Summer Pointe parks yields children playing, dogs running and retired couples walking — a truly idyllic scene. This type of welcoming environment lends itself to more residents buying homes in the area— a sentiment residents feel may change.

The Hays County Democratic Party was awarded several Pollie Awards from the American Association of Political Consultants.

— On May 23, Dripping Springs ISD announced Jennifer McGinnis and Dan Shane as the District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year, respectively. McGinnis and Shane were chosen following an interview with a selection committee and will now represent DSISD in the Region 13 Teacher of the Year selection process this summer.

— As an invitation for residents to take control of their health, the Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) is hosting the Summer Health Fair in Dripping Springs this weekend.

— Hays County, in collaboration with the city of Buda, is conducting a study to explore the feasibility of constructing SH 45 between I-35 and RM 1626.

— Throughout April and May, teams competed to donate the most pounds of fresh or non-perishable food as part of the Hays County Food Bank’s Spring Harvest Challenge.

Staff Report KYLE — The city of Kyle has launched an interactive tool aimed at encouraging community members to share their feedback on the Kyle 2030 Comprehensive Plan rewrite at www.Kyle2030.com.

KYLE — American Veterans (AMVETS) has been serving veterans across the country since World War II, with the Kyle location opening June 12, 2012.

DRIPPING SPRINGS — Members of the community, including those in Hays and Travis counties, are showing their support for David Gibson — a former Dripping Springs resident who now works for Travis County Fire Rescue — after his wife, Coral, was severely injured in a vehicular collision on U.S. 290 between Henly and Dripping Springs in May.
