A motorcyclist involved in a three-vehicle collision Friday night has died, Kyle city officials said.
The fatal accident occured near the 215-mile marker on the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at about 9:15 p.m. Authorities said the accident involved a motorcycle, passenger car and 18-wheeler.
Traffic along the southbound lanes of the interstate has been diverted to the access road from the 217-mile marker south to an area near the 210-mile marker as exit and entrance ramps allow, Kyle spokesperson Jerry Hendrix said in a statement.
Kyle police officers and fire officials are conducting an investigation into the accident and are actively working the scene, Hendrix said. The southbound lanes of the interstate are expected to be closed until about midnight.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released and no further information on the victim is available at this time, Hendrix said.
