KYLE — Kyle City Council took the first step in adopting a new budget during a special budgeting workshop held on Saturday, May 13.

— “On both of our bridges … we’ve had people jump off of them and so, that is where it becomes some sort of responsibility to at least direct [residents to resources],” said council member Yvonne Flores-Cale.

— At its April 18 meeting, Kyle City Council discussed the possibility of adding the Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader System.

KYLE — Bryan Langley has been named the sole candidate for the position of Kyle city manager. City council voted unanimously in a special meeting on Friday, April 13 to approve Langley for the position following a strenous search involving 69 candidates.

— From proclamations to splash pads, Kyle City Council discussed several items at the April 4 meeting.

KYLE — While Kyle City Council was at a stalemate during its last discussion of Proposition F — a measure approved by an overwhelming 75% of voters in the 2020 election to create a police oversight committee — representatives of the Kyle Police Department and the Kyle Law Enforcement Association joined council members and city staff in a special meeting held on Saturday, April 1 to create an outline of the group’s members and functions.

— During its March 21 meeting, Kyle City Council voted 4-3 to direct staff to start the process of hiring a projectbased attorney to assist with the new city manager contract.

— In a 4-3 reversal vote, businesses who sell alcohol in Kyle will no longer be exempt from the city’s alcohol license permit fees following the March 7 city council meeting.

KYLE — At its meeting on Tuesday, March 7, Kyle City Council voted to take the first step in providing funds to the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center (HCWC) in an effort to pay them for services used by the city.

KYLE — The local VFW has temporarily moved into a new building.
