Family-friendly retail, restaurant development sets eyes on Buda
BUDA — After meeting up with developers, local business owners, investors and community members over the course of several months to discuss the growing Hays County area, Tim Dowling with Beyond the Move Realty found a need for a more family-friendly retail and restaurant space in the city of Buda. And the groundwork and planning for the project have already begun.

Not a temporary daddy's girl
Eminem released “The Death of Slim Shady” a little more than a week ago and, like always, I enjoyed it immensely, but I was shocked by “Temporary.” The song felt like such a 180 after the previous track. Tears began to form in my eyes the moment he said the song was for Hailie and by the time the first chorus hit, I was sobbing at 6 a.m. in bed. Although it doesn’t feature complex lyrics or unique instrumentals, it immediately rose to the top of my album ranking.

Residents oppose Hays Commons’ wastewater permit
BUDA — On Tuesday, July 16, residents from the city of Hays and nearby neighborhoods gathered in a meeting room at the Comfort Suites in Buda to oppose a proposed wastewater treatment permit for MileStone Community Builders’ planned Hays Commons subdivision.

Former Wimberley pitcher Ruger Riojas headed to University of Texas
Ruger Riojas pitched for the Wimberley Texans varsity team in 2021-2022, had a 1.28 ERA and won five games in his senior year, helping the Texans win two bi-district championships. Then, he spent the last two years (2023-2024) pitching for the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners, but decided to enter the National Collegiate Athletics Associations (NCAA) transfer portal.
