Another trip around the sun
Another trip around the sun

On this Friday morning, as I listen to the pouring of rain and thunder rumbling in the distance, I am celebrating my birthday by writing a new column about an old subject.

The ins and outs of AI
The ins and outs of AI

I’m sorry, but I just don’t understand all the hullabaloo over AI. It’s all over the news, what little I watch of it.

Another failed attempt at investigative reporting
Another failed attempt at investigative reporting

If y’all’ve been wondering where I’ve been lately, well, I’ve been away on assignment. For months, we’ve been hearing daily reports about all the trouble down in Mexico and along the Texas border. So, being a dedicated journalist as I claim to be, I have spent the past few weeks down south to take a good look at what’s really happening, and I’m here to report my findings.

Another gloomy February
Another gloomy February

Well, here we are in February already. I don’t know about all y’all, but I’m not a fan of this month. The weather fluctuates like Oprah’s dress size. It might be nice and warm one day and two days later it’s colder than an Eskimo’s toilet seat. There are a few holidays this month, but none that require roasting a turkey or decorating the house. I suppose some younger folks might celebrate Valentine’s Day, but in our home, after 43 years of marriage, we normally rejoice by sharing a Snickers bar and sipping on box wine.

The grandfather clause
The grandfather clause

There is often a period of time between the last day of a new mother’s maternity leave and the first day of childcare for the infant. At least that’s what both our daughters informed us for the past thirteen years. They said according to the “experts”, it is beneficial for newborns to spend several weeks with their grandparents to enhance their psychological and sociological growth, or some mumbo-jumbo like that. Who are we to argue with experts, so we grandparents agree to babysit these little bundles of joy.

A few weeks ago, one of my favorite musicians passed away. Jimmy Buffett was a great songwriter and a very entertaining performer.

Where was I?
Where was I?

I heard some of y’all who still subscribe to a newspaper have been wonderin’ what happened to me. I don’t know if those folks were worried about my well-being or asking if I was finally determined to be legally crazy and placed in a padded cell. I know I haven’t been writing my column as often as I used to, and there are several reasons for my hiatus from the newspapers.

Keep on truckin’ in your pickup

As a few of y’all know and many of y’all suspect, I own a pickup truck. Actually, I own two trucks, but only one leaves the ranch.
