WIMBERLEY — After a 3-1 loss to Lake Travis, the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers volleyball team 40-3 (9-1) have three consecutive shutouts over Bowie High School, Del Valle High School and, most recently, Johnson High School last Friday night. Dripping Springs will host Akins at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 6.

WIMBERLEY — First, it was Forister’s in the 1940s, then it became Dinner Bell. In 1981, it was purchased by the Calkins family and became the Cypress Creek Café.

By Megan Navarro DRIPPING SPRINGS — Dripping Springs ISD is moving forward with a reduction in its tax rate for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

WIMBERLEY — The town of Wimberley was once swarming with stray dogs. With this came puppy mills at market days, unregulated dog dumping and individuals selling dogs on street corners.

WIMBERLEY — Aqua Texas, a water utility company that serves Hays County, was fined approximately $450,000 by the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (HTGCD) for pumping 89.4 million gallons of water in 2022, which was almost twice the amount was allotted by its permit.

The Johnson High School varsity football team fell to the Dripping Springs Tigers last Friday night.

SAN MARCOS — Local resident Chloe M. Love filed for the removal of Hays County District Clerk Avrey Anderson Sr., pursuant to Section 87.015(b) of the Texas Local Government Code, for incompetence and official misconduct on Sept. 29.

HAYS COUNTY — A former Hays CISD substitute teacher was sentenced Sept. 18 before Judge Sherri K. Tibbe to 10 years in state prison, suspended for 10 years — or 10 years of community supervision — in relation to a November 2019 incident involving a student at Lehman High School.
