Buda’s Economic Development Corporation’s director was selected as one of the profession’s 40 under 40.
The award, managed by Development Counselors International (DCI), recognizes young talent in the economic development profession. Ann Marie Miller was selected as a winner from a pool of more than 157 candidates.
Buda’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC) board president, Ron Fletcher, said he’s pleased to see a national organization recognize what the EDC board has known for some time.
“Ann Miller spearheaded a paradigm shift in the way Buda does economic development that coordinates the activities of the city and the corporation in ways that will benefit our citizens for years to come,” Fletcher said.
A five-member selection committee chose the winners based on their contributions to the economic development industry, according to a statement by the Buda EDC and DCI.
“The 2015 award winners represent the best and brightest rising economic development professionals,” Miller said. “I am humbled and honored to have been selected to receive the 40 under 40 Award in Economic Development.”
Miller has served as Buda’s EDC director since January 2013, and this year will have ten years in the economic development profession under her belt.
She spearheaded the city’s first Economic Development Strategic Plan and Incentive Policy, and has overseen four major economic deyvelopment projects that have or will bring at least $5.5 million in capital investment and create or retain over 185 jobs.
