— Six graduating seniors were named winners of the Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) essay competition.

— The safety and security of students has been a continuous topic of discussion for school districts across Texas, including Hays CISD.

HAYS COUNTY — The Hays County EMS Association, composed of approximately 80 employees of San Marcos Hays County EMS (SMHCEMS), is still waiting in hopes of getting voluntarily recognized.

— On Tuesday, April 25, the Hays CISD Board of Trustees approved the superintendent’s recommendation to employ Christina Courson as the chief human resources officer and Tim Robinson as the deputy human resources officer.

— Early voting for the May 6 election wrapped up on Tuesday, May 2.

HAYS COUNTY — Hays CISD voters will decide on more than $367 million worth of districtwide improvements through a bond election to be held on Saturday, May 6.

KYLE — It’s been 143 years since the Kyle Fire Department (KFD) was founded — the same year the city of Kyle was incorporated. But just as Kyle isn’t the same little township it was more than a century ago, KFD has evolved into a different department alongside the city.

Following the April 19 conviction by a jury, Jeffery Alan Scott Jr. was sentenced to life in prison for attempted capital murder and aggravated assault of a public servant on April 24.
